Buckroe vote

In response to Gerry Reill's letter "Buckroe decision," Jan. 12, citizens need to be reminded that the Hampton City Council has not voted or endorsed any of the options regarding the future of the B Lots at Buckroe Beach.

The city's planning department has endorsed Option E, which it describes as really only Option A with the small patch of green area moved over a block. Our City Council is not obligated to vote in favor of the option recommended by the planning department.

The council could vote in favor of Option D or D-1, which is widely supported by citizens (visit www.buckroebeach.org to view).

The City Council will take a final vote on this matter on Jan. 24. Therefore, it is premature to reject the entire council at this time by vowing to vote against all of them in the next council elections. Readers may make their own design option choice for Lots B known to city leaders by email at council@hampton.gov or by phone at 727-6315.

I urge readers to come to the City Council meeting on Jan. 24 and see how each council member votes on the Buckroe issue. That will be the time to determine support or rejection of each member accordingly as they come up for re-election.
