Support Buckroe

More than 12,000 Hampton residents signed the petition to "Stop the condos at Buckroe," and up to this point, and only because of the support of the Hampton City Council, we have managed to fend off the sale to developers of our public land at Buckroe.
For two years the City Council has been willing to "start-stop-start" an often contentious journey in an effort to hold out for the best solution possible in Buckroe for the citizens of Hampton.
Two solutions are now contending for a final vote by the council on Wednesday. One is Option E and the other is Option D-1.
A majority vote for Option D-1 will save Lots B as a city park. We believe that in the end the council will stand up for the citizens, but citizen support on Wednesday is absolutely necessary.
Every Hampton resident who wants Buckroe's Lots B saved as a city park must show up for the City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.
I encourage them to wear "Option D-1" signs at the meeting and to place "Option D-1" signs in their car windows before Wednesday.
Bring children with Frisbees and footballs under their arms. Council members are parents and grandparents, and seeing children in attendance who want a park on Lots B should have an impact.
I cannot stress strongly enough the importance of a packed house of D-1 supporters at the City Council meeting. Visit www.buckroe beach.org for more information.
