Good Buckroe news

Witnessed on Feb. 21 was a very proud moment in Hampton city government.  Hampton City Council held a special public meeting to discuss the Bay Front Initiative of the Buckroe Master Plan.  Council members discussed several visions collected from Hampton citizens and offered their personal visions - all differed from the residential development originally proposed for the three former Buckroe Amusement Park sites.

The council then made the decision to have the city manager look at all of the visions presented and devise a plan to resurrect a new planning process for the Bay Front Initiative.  To view one vision, visit the Web site www.buckroebeach.org.

I urge citizens to help ensure that the new planning process continues to move forward to keep public property for the public's continued use, fun and relaxation.  Citizens can thank Hampton council at council@hampton.gov and advise members whether they concur with our vision, submit suggested changes or submit their own visions.

Let's work with the council, a new planning team and our citizens to come up with the best possible vision suitable for the residents of Buckroe as well as for all of the citizens of Hampton, our visitors and our tourists.
