Help design Lots B

At last, 12,000 petitioners, Hampton residents and everyone else concerned about saving Buckroe's Lots B from residential development as a city park, are going to have that opportunity, and a wonderful one it is.

On Oct. 3 and 4, "public design sessions" will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ruppert Sargent Building, 1 Franklin St., Hampton.

Everyone is invited to bring ideas for the use and design of Lots B to these sessions.

Maps of Lots B will be placed on tables along with pens for drawing, outlining or commenting on your visions for Lots B.

The city has hired LaQuatra Bonci, a professional park planning team from Pittsburgh, to work with the options and alternatives gathered from the public.

LaQuatra Bonci is aware that, by way of the 12,000-signature petition, Hampton residents also requested Lots B be designated as land that is never to be built upon for the establishment of dwellings or industrial endeavors of any kind, and that it be specifically retained for the common use of the entirety of the citizens of Hampton.  I respectfully request everyone attending the sessions to keep this in mind.

A copy of the city of Hampton's invitation to the public, a copy of the petition and additional information can be found online at www.buckroebeach.org.
