Save Buckroe Beach

Know why I oppose development of Buckroe Beach? It's not because some "green space ladies" are stirring up trouble and getting people to sign a petition (see www.buckroebeach.org).
It's because I can't find parking at the north end of (developed) Buckroe Beach. The "No Stopping, No Standing, 5-Minute Unloading" sign doesn't designate a public parking area. We were promised easy access after this area was developed. It doesn't take a NASA scientist to know we can't trust the City Council; just read the road signs.
The mayor represents me, and I vote "no" to Initiative 1 in the Buckroe Beach Master Plan, which authorizes the city to sell the three oceanfront lots designated as "B" to private developers.
More than 9,000 people have signed a petition to save this open area. I urge the mayor to go ahead and revitalize Buckroe but leave the one open area alone. It belongs to me, my neighbors and Hampton residents of the future. The mayor does not have my permission to sell it, lease it or in any way dispose of the last open space at Buckroe Beach. Selling our recreation area isn't the way to improve Hampton.
