Buckroe Park

After the May 2 elections, the new make-up of the Hampton City Council will be the one that will make the final decision on whether the former Buckroe Amusement Park sites will be developed into a world-class city park or will be sold to developers for condominium and other residential development.
This publicly owned property is known as the Bay Front Initiative under the Buckroe Master Plan, and it is also known as Lots B. The "Green Space Ladies," our supporters and the thousands of Hampton residents who signed the petition to "Stop the Condos at Buckroe Beach" have come too far over this past year to let our efforts and our progress to save this property from developers slip away.
Therefore, I am asking every Hampton registered voter to consider saving Lots B from residential development by voting for Donnie Tuck, Simon Gaskill and Randy Gilliland on May 2.
Each has committed himself in written statements to the hope that Lots B will be preserved and developed as a mix of park space with entertainment and recreational amenities available for residents, visitors and tourists. A flier containing their exact statements can be found at www.buckroebeach.org.
Councilwoman Angela Leary has supported saving Lots B for the public's continued use, fun and relaxation since the beginning of our struggle over one year ago. With the election of Tuck, Gaskill and Gilliland, the majority four votes needed on the council to save Lots B from residential development will be in place.
