Say 'no' to development in Buckroe

I have been following the situation with Buckroe, and I have had one question that nobody in this city has been able to, or has wanted to, answer. We have been fighting the issue of the development of the three "B" blocks at Buckroe Beach for the purpose of building condos.
For some reason, the city of Hampton seems to want to sell every ounce of our land to developers for the purpose of totally unnecessary building of gas stations, restaurants and other useless places. If condos go up in Buckroe, that land is no longer going to be for public use.
The folks in Salt Ponds said no to placing parking in their neighborhood because they said it would bring in a bad element that they did not want there. They do not want the public having access to the beach there. So with this in mind, why is it necessary that the 12,000 people who have signed petitions, which I also signed, say "yes" to developers coming in and taking our land? All of this development is going to make property values go through the roof.
It will also increase real estate taxes, increase crime and bring in a bad element. City officials need to wake up and do what they were put in office to do.
